Technical Director

Mr. Mark D'Amato

Mr. D'Amato currently serves as the Technical Director for the U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground, the Army's primary C4ISR test organization. He previously served as Chief of the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Division in the Army Test and Evaluation Command responsible for managing the test programs for combat and tactical wheeled vehicles, large caliber ammunition, route clearance/engineer equipment, and survivability and lethality testing for ground systems. The division managed rapid and traditional acquisition programs and supported a broad range of customers to include PEO Ammunition, PEO Ground Combat Systems, PEO Combat Support/Combat Service Support, the Joint IED Defeat Organization, and the Special Operations Command.

Mr. D'Amato began his career in Government service in the U.S. Army, serving in a variety of leadership positions from platoon to corps level during 20 years of military service. He commanded units at the company and battalion levels, served as a deputy commander at the brigade level and was also a qualified strategic planner. After retirement from the U.S. Army, Mr. D'Amato worked as a program manager for Battelle supporting the Chemical, Biological, and General Equipment Team in the U.S. Army Developmental Test Command and managed several multi-million dollar contracts. He entered civil service in February 2006 as the Team Leader of the Soldier Systems Team and then moved to Team Leader of the Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Team supporting the rapid acquisition of counter IED systems fielded to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The team managed the testing of numerous electronic counter-measure, surveillance, and IED detection systems.

Mr. D'Amato holds a Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University, a Master of Science from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. His military training includes the Ordnance Officer Basic and Advance Courses, the Combined Arms Staff Services School, the Command and General Staff College, and the School of Advanced Military Studies.

Mr. D'Amato is an Acquisition Corps member and holds Level III Certification in Test and Evaluation. His civilian service awards include three Commander's Awards for Civilian Service, an Achievement Award for Civilian Service and a Baltimore Federal Executive Board Award in the Outstanding Professional and Technical category.
