COL Timothy E. Matthews

Colonel Timothy E. Matthews was commissioned a Regular Army Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps through the Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1999. He is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He is a 1993 graduate of Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, Alabama, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, 2009 honor graduate of Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, with a Master Arts in Procurement and Acquisition Management, and a 2020 graduate of National Defense University, Washington, DC, with a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy.

COL Matthews is a graduate of the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Jumpmaster Course, Aerial Delivery Material Officers Course, Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course (Honor Graduate), Army Acquisition Basic Course, Test and Evaluation Course, Program Management Course, Command and General Staff College, Senior Service College and Senior Acquisition Course at National Defense University.

COL Matthews’ operational assignments include Rigger Platoon Leader, 623rd QM Company, Executive Officer, 259th Field Service Company (Modular), Battalion Adjutant/S1, Task Force Adjutant/S1, Logistics Task Force 264th, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan and BN S3, Plans and Operations Officer in the 264th CSB (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Service Detachment Commander, 3rd BN, 5th Special Forces Group (SFG) (ABN), Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Taji, Iraq; Commander, Group Service Support Company (GSSC), 5th SFG (ABN), Fort Campbell, Kentucky and two additional tours as the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP) J4 Forward, Baghdad, Iraq.

COL Matthews’ acquisition assignments include Testing and Evaluation Officer, Headquarters, United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), G8 Directorate, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Assistant Program Manager, Ground Applications Program Office, Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Combat System Program Analyst, Headquarters Department of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff G8, Program Analysis and Evaluation Directorate, Pentagon, Washington, DC; Deputy Program Manager, Headquarters, Defense Information System Agency, Program Executive Office Command and Control Capabilities, Multi-National Information Sharing Program Office, and Chief, Director’s Initiative Group, Headquarters Defense Information System Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland; Commander, Yuma Test Center, U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, Arizona; Deputy Director for Army Aviation Programs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, Washington, DC. COL Matthews’ current assignment is serving as the United States Army Aberdeen Test Center Commander in Aberdeen, Maryland.
