Command Sgt. Maj. David N. Sweeney assumed the responsibilities as command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, Fort Hood, Texas.

CSM Sweeney enlisted into the US Army in January 2001 and attended Basic Training and AIT for Military Police at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. CSM Sweeney has deployed in support of Operation Noble Eagle to the Pentagon (2002-2003); Camp Delta, Guantanamo Bay Cuba (2003-2004); Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan (2010-2011); Kandahar, Afghanistan (2012-2013); and Operation Allies Welcome (2021).

His military education and training includes: BN/BDE Pre-Command Course, How The Army Runs Course, Force Management Orientation Course, Law Enforcement Senior Leaders Course, Director of Emergency Services Course, Company Commander/1SG Pre-Command Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, Tactical Information Operations Course, Battlefield Forensics Course, Combat Tracker Canine Course, Senior Leader Course, Advance Leader Course, Basic Leader Course, 31E Conversion Course, Child Abuse Prevention Investigative Techniques Course, Domestic Violence Intervention Training, Critical Incident Peer Support Course, Logistic Systems Course, Unit Prevention Leader, Unit Retention NCO, Unit Armor, and Combat Lifesaver course.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in General Studies from Excelsior College and Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma.

CSM Sweeney was the Distinguished Honor Graduate from ALC and the Force Management Course; the Leadership Award recipient from ALC and BLC; 2025 AUSA El Paso Chapter Citizen of the Year; and is a recipient of the Bronze Order of the Marechaussee.
