The U.S. Army’s goal is to eliminate sexual assaults and sexual harassment by creating a climate that respects each member of the Army family. This year, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond Odierno, and a host of senior leaders are focused on Sustaining the Momentum when committing to the elimination of sexual violence within the community. Each year, the Army, and Aberdeen Proving Ground, holds an annual summit to provide a forum to educate, train and communicate new ways of preventing sexual offenses. Army leaders are focused on achieving culture change in the workplace and educate members of the Army family on how best to prevent and intervene early to keep sexual violence from occurring. Reinforcing a positive command climate, holding offenders accountable and victim advocacy are a few ways the Army is working to change behaviors and attitudes that may lead to sexual offenses.
