MSG Bill D. Kearney
Master Sergeant (MSG) Bill D. Kearney was born in Santa Rosa, California. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2001 out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and completed One Station Unit Training as an Infantryman at Fort Benning, Georgia.
MSG Kearney has held leadership positions as a Team Leader, Squad leader, OC/T, Section Sergeant, TAC NCO, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Training NCO, First Sergeant, and Deputy Commandant.
MSG Kearney has served in the Army for over 23 years in various duty assignments throughout the United States, to include the 1st Battalion 14th Infantry Regiment (25th Infantry Division), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 2nd Battalion 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; 1st Battalion 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington; Headquarters Detachment, 2nd Squadron 11th Armored Calvay Regiment, Fort Irwin, California; First Army Head Quarters and First Army OC/T Academy, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. He has deployed three times in support of the Global War on Terrorism, Iraq (2004-2005), Iraq (2007-2008), and Afghanistan (2012).
MSG Kearney’s schools and education include the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Leader Course, Common Faculty Development Instructor Course, Army Combatives level 1, 2, 3, and 4, Javelin Gunners Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Battle Staff, Heavy Weapons Leaders Course, Observer Controller Trainer Academy, Commandants Pre-Command Course and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from American Military University.
MSG Kearney’s awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (1 oak leaf) Army Commendation Medal with “V” device, Army Commendation Medal (4 oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (6 oak leaf clusters), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award (1 oak leaf), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Iraq Campaign Medal w/1 bronze star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/1 bronze star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon w/numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/numeral 3, and the NATO Medal. He has earned the Expert Infantry Badge and the Combat Infantry Badge.
