FORT HOOD — The U.S. Army Operational Test Command inducted the late Laurence Alston Womack as the 37th member of the unit’s Hall of Fame on Thursday for his dedicated work in fire support systems.

Womack, a retired artillery lieutenant colonel who continued working with Operational Test Command until his death in 2013, left a lasting legacy for operational testing, modeling and simulation, according to a release prepared about why he was chosen.

His widow, Louise, and daughters Arlene Womack and Chantell Rhodes were joined by Killeen Mayor Jose Segarra, OTC commander Col. John Ullrich and OTC Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Schmidt in unveiling a plaque highlighting the honoree’s accomplishments. The plaque will hang in the command’s Hall of Fame.

“This is just amazing,” Louise Womack said. “I wish I could go back in time and tell him how proud I am of him.”
