Two Fort Hood generals will be moving on to new positions in the Army soon, the chief of staff announced Friday.

Brig. Gen. Douglas M. Gabram, deputy commander of support for 1st Cavalry Division, will become the deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

“The 1st Cavalry Division thanks Brig. Gen. Gabram for his immeasurable contributions and service to the First Team as the deputy commanding general-support,” according to statement from the division.

“His leadership made a significant impact on the division’s readiness and ability to accomplish myriad missions around the world, including Afghanistan, where he recently returned to Fort Hood after serving as the commanding general, Train, Advise, Assist Command South. We wish him and his family the absolute best at TRADOC, and are thrilled that he will continue his fine Army service in this important role.”

Earlier this month, Brig. Gen. Mark C. Schwartz was announced to the division as a deputy commander.

Schwartz is currently the deputy commander of Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan.

OTC commander

Brig. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, commander of the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, headquartered at West Fort Hood, will become the new commander of the U.S. Army Engineer Division, Northwestern, in Portland, Ore.

“While OTC will miss Brig. Gen. Spellmon’s dynamic and visionary leadership, we wish him and his family well as they head off to the great Northwest, said Robert Miele, OTC executive director..

Spellmon took the helm of OTC in June 2013. The organization conducts independent operational testing to inform acquisition and fielding decisions for Army and select joint warfighting systems.

“Gen. Spellmon has led OTC through some challenging times, to include four Network Integration Evaluations, more than 120 operational tests and nearly 100 percent turnover in his senior leadership,” Miele said.

“He leaves behind a rich legacy in the test community.”

No timeline for either general’s transition has been announced.
