Operational Test Command hosts annual children's Christmas party

Starting with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus and ending with the reading of "Twas the Night before Christmas," the U.S. Army Operational Test Command's annual children's Christmas party had something for everyone — no matter the age.

Held Saturday at Montague Elementary School at West Fort Hood, the party featured both indoor and outdoor activities that included a bean bag toss, a coloring contest, Christmas tattoos, photos with Santa, pony rides, football toss, petting zoo, reindeer races, bounce houses, Christmas card-making arts and crafts and refreshments.

"I've been doing this for the last three years," said Sylvia Bonilla, office manager, Test Technology Directorate. "It's a lot of fun for me; I just wish I could harness the energy these children have."

Billie Hanna, chief of staff administrative assistant, and Faye DeBard, family programs assistant, appeared to be having a high old time tattooing children and adults.

"Step right up and get a Christmas tattoo," said Hanna. "We have everything from candy canes to polar bears to Santa Claus."

While DJ Billy Ray aka Roger Fant, the husband of G6 administrative assistant Patti Fant, played Christmas tunes that spanned all categories — country-western, rock, traditional — people hit the lunch line for hot dogs, sausage wraps, nachos and all sorts of seasonal sweet treats.

"No one will go away hungry," said DeBard, "although most of the children are too excited to eat right now."

Staff Sgt. Denise Lee, logistics senior noncommissioned officer, has helped coordinate the command's annual children's Christmas and Easter parties since 2006, she said.

After the reading of "Twas the Night before Christmas" by Brig. Gen. Don MacWillie, OTC commander, TTD secretary Lynn Dykes announced event winners:
