Vacancy Announcement Number – Identification number given to each vacancy announcement. You must identify the vacancy announcement number on all materials you submit, ex.NEAG04509112 (internal) or NEAG04509112D (external).

Internal Vacancy Announcement – Type of announcement used when advertising for status (current career, career-conditional, DoD, Army, transfers, reinstatements, and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) candidates, this will be annotated on the announcement under “Who May Apply” - AKA the Area of Consideration.

External Vacancy Announcement – Type of announcement used when advertising for non-status (general public with no prior civilian or military government employment), this will be annotated on the announcement under “Who May Apply” - AKA Area of Consideration and will state, ‘Open to all U.S. Citizens’.

Opening Date - Date a vacancy announcement is open for you to submit your self-nomination with an active resume on file.

Closing Date - Final date you can submit your self-nomination. All self-nominations must be received in the system by the closing date annotated on the vacancy announcement.

Position - Job title of the vacancy being announced.

Career Group, Series, & Pay band - Career Group (ex. YA, YD, YF), series, and Pay band (ex. 01, 02, 03) for the position being announced. The Army Evaluation Center is under the National Security Personnel System (NSPS). The NSPS replaces GS grade levels with career groups and pay bands

Promotion Potential - Indicates that the position being filled has the potential for promotion and indicates the full performance band/level.

Salary – Identifies the salary range for the position. Download Career Groups, Pay Band Levels, and Base Salary Ranges per Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
Place of Work/Duty Location - The geographic location where the position will be filled or where the position is located. AEC primary locations are Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Duties - Describes the duties and responsibilities of the position being announced.
About the Position – May list additional qualifications needed in order to be in the position or qualify for the position. May also list additional information about the position itself.
Who May Apply - Describes who is eligible to apply for this vacancy announcement, such as Federal Civil Service Employees (status candidates), and Public (non-status, external candidates).

Army Civilian Resume Builder/ANSWER – The Army Civilian Resume Builder is designed to assist users in entering their resume into the Army's Centralized Resumix System. Users can enter their resume as well as provide supplemental data to indicate their qualifications and preferences. Once a resume is entered using this system, the record is integrated with the other staffing tools used by the Army to recruit and place applicants.

The Applicant Notification System Web - Enabled Response (ANSWER) tool is designed to allow users to check the status of their Resume, track their application history, view Self-Nomination history and view their current Resume and Supplemental Data listed in the Central Resumix Database. Users can toggle between the Resume Builder and ANSWER.
